PMIC - Supervisors, MAX692ACSA+T Application Field and Working Principle MAX692ACSA+T, a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) supervisor, is one of the latest products developed by the semiconductor company Maxim Integrated, which has a wide range of applications in the electronics industry.The main function of MAX692ACSA+T is to monitor the power supply voltage and provide system reset, thus playing an important role in ensuring the normal operation of the system and avoiding system crash due to power failure. The MAX692ACSA+T package is made up of small 24-pin SSOP (shrink small outline package).It includes a precision voltage detector and seven low-saturation reset outputs.The reset outputs connect to the system\'s logic ICs and provide a low-active signal when the input voltage exceeds the predetermined threshold voltage. In terms of application field, the MAX692ACSA+T is suitable for the battery-operated systems and systems with multiple power-distribution points, because of its open-drain output can drive a common reset signal, and the three-state asynchronous manual reset is also available for system reset. Besides, this product also can be used in a variety of analog and digital systems, such as clock generator, time counter, microcomputer, and PLL frequency synthesizer in consumer electronics, communication equipment, and instrumentation products. In terms of working principle, MAX692ACSA+T monitor input voltage and assert reset signal when system voltage reaches below preset threshold level. There is a well-defined on-chip reset active time of 2.0ms maximum that can be extended by adding external capacitor.The active-low reset allows reset is released when the system voltage returns above the pre-set threshold level or when the reset signal is asserted manually.Although the reset is released,the reset signal remains active when the system voltage is below the pre-set threshold level. MAX692ACSA+T provide a series of protection functions to make sure the system operating safely and stably, these protection functions include over voltage protection (OVP) to protect system from damage due to the supply voltage exceeding a certain level, over temperature protection (T-Latch) to protect the system from overheating caused by the presence of internal or external temperature, and UVLO(under voltage lockout) protection to prevent the system from unexpected reset signal. To make sure the reset signal works stably, MAX692ACSA+T also provides three adjustable reset thresholds, which can be set at 2.8V/3.1V/3.4V according to the customer\'s needs, in case the input voltage exceed the level 3.4V, the reset signal should be activated.Our product also have a user-selectable brown-out reset (BOR) mode, where there are several choices available, such as 2.8V/3.1V/3.4V and so on, so that once the system voltage stayed below the brown-out voltage for a certain period of time, the reset signal will be activated, protecting the system from unexpected unexpected power failure.
