The MAX700CSA+ supervisor is a versatile IC, featuring programmable voltage and current threshold levels. An active-low reset signal is used to reset the logic circuits when the system power is absent, resetting the processor status and resetting the system clock.

Another feature of the MAX700CSA+ supervisor is its \'watchdog\' watchdog timer, which is a timer used to monitor the state of the processor or other system component. The watchdog timer is reset periodically, or \'ticked\' by an external system component. When the timer expires, an interrupt is generated which can cause a system reset or other action depending on the programming. The watchdog timer prevents system lock up in the event of software malfunction.
