The MAX704RCPA+ is a PMIC - Supervisors. It is a precision reset variably delay supervisor. The device monitors power supplies to detect out-of-tolerance conditions, and when either of two independent reset thresholds is exceeded, drives an open collector reset signal. The MAX704RCPA+ supports voltage level monitoring applications in the range of 2.0V to 5.5V with a reset threshold of 4.63V (typical). The reset output can sink a minimum of 10mA at 10% VCC.
The MAX704RCPA+ is mainly used for circuit reset, zero-power/standby power-supply supervision for offline systems, low-cost power-supply reset and supervision, system power-on reset, supply-lift protection and power-version signaling.
The MAX704RCPA+ is composed of two parts: analog and reset signaling. The analog part includes a precision bandgap voltage reference, a window comparator with high-noise immunity and hysteresis adjustable by external resistors, a delay timer and an analog control unit for power-on reset (POR) delay time delay-speed adjustment and system power-on reset (SPOR) delay time delay-speed. The reset-signaling unit contains SENSE, INH and/or RESET output controls, cell regulator, reset debouncer, reset timer, and a latchup protection circuit.
The MAX704RCPA+ features a built-in cell regulator that maintains the precision bandgap voltage reference voltage of 4.93V over a wide operating temperature range. The INH (inhibit) and RESET output controls can be remotely operated to bypass reset and/or delayed reset. A delay-time-adjustment selection pin allows users to select the reset time period from less than 1 ms to thousands of milliseconds (ms). The device also includes a power-on reset (POR) with a delayed turn-on time which can be adjusted via an external capacitor. The POR reset time can be set to delay turn-on for any reason that may occur, such as the wait for the power-supply voltage to stabilize.
The MAX704RCPA+ is available in the following package options: 8-Pin TDFN (3mm x 3mm x 0.8mm), 8-Pin SOIC (8-Ld X 3mm X 2.6mm), 8-Pin MSOP (3mm x 3mm x 0.8mm), and through-hole 8-Pin PDIP (14-Ld).
