Working Principle

An external capacitor connected to the Reset output pin and ground determines the delay time for the reset signal to be valid. Once the input voltage falls below the reset threshold, the POR circuit will assert the Reset signal, resetting the system and running the WDT.

Meanwhile, the WDT acts as a failsafe mechanism that monitors system operation. While the power input is above the reset threshold and a periodic signal is received by the WDT, the WDT keeps track of time. If the power supply is interrupted, the WDT will detect the disruption and will reset the system.

To ensure accuracy, the MAX706CPA can be used with multiple voltage references and can be adjusted to provide an additional level of precision while also providing a hysteresis feature to minimize output fluctuations.
