The MAX706CSA+ functions by monitoring voltage levels on the power supply from the VIN pin. If the voltage on the VIN pin falls below the under-voltage threshold (UV) or rises above the over-voltage threshold (OV), then the MAX706CSA+ will activate its reset output.The MAX706CSA+ also offers an adjustable power-on delay, which ensures that the reset stays active for a defined amount of time before the power supply is turned on again. This prevents the system from being reset too quickly after a fault, which could damage integral components.Other Features
The MAX706CSA+ also offers a few other features. It can operate from a power supply with a voltage range from 1.8V to 3.6V and the two under-voltage & over-voltage thresholds can be set using external resistors.The MAX706CSA+ also has a built-in brownout/power-on reset circuit with an adjustable power-on delay. This allows the reset to stay active for a specified amount of time, before allowing the power supply to start up again.The MAX706CSA+ also offers very low start-up current consumption and a very small package size, allowing it to be used in the most demanding power management applications.Finally, the MAX706CSA+ also has a built-in low pulse-width detector (LPD) which can detect short pulses with a duration of less than 10µs and generate a reset signal with a minimum reset pulse width of 30µs. This is particularly useful for ensuring that the system does not reset too quickly after a fault.Conclusion
