The MAX709LCUA+ contains a voltage detector and a reset generator. The voltage detector monitors the system power supply voltage and sends a low active signal to the reset generator. The reset generator is designed to generate a reset signal for microprocessor reset control, power fail warning, and brown-out detection. The MAX709LCUA+ utilizes a power control circuit that is designed to monitor its supply voltage and provide a reset output when the supply voltage falls below its predetermined thresholds. The MAX709LCUA+ includes a compare voltage of 2.32V or 4.03V, depending on the versions. If the input voltage is lower than the compare voltage, the reset output (RESET) will be pulled low. When the input voltage rises above the threshold voltage the reset output is released and allowed to float between high and low states. When RESET is applied, the system will be reset, and the MAX709LCUA+ will remain in the reset state until the supply voltage has returned to a stable level above the compare voltage.
