Working Principle
The MAX767CAP+ integrates two independent PolyPhase PWM controllers, each capable of controlling two synchronous, power MOSFETs. This dual-phase architecture can provide up to 2x the flexibility and current-handling capability of a single-phase design. The core of each PWM controller is a 100MHz oscillator enabling very efficient operation. The two controllers can be independently configured to provide output up to 6-phase power rail solutions.
The MAX767CAP+ also integrates two current-sensing amplifiers, two dedicated comparators, as well as four programmable output pins. The MAX767CAP+ also includes an integrated overvoltage immune (OVI) protection that eliminates the need for external N-channel MOSFETs. This integrated OVI protection prevents damage due to overvoltage conditions and improves system reliability. Additionally, the MAX767CAP+ provides integrated Adaptive Negotiation™ (AN) circuitry, enabling several adjacent devices to step-up their voltage levels simultaneously.
The MAX767CAP+ also integrates a digital interface, providing control and monitoring capabilities. The controller includes a digital interface which can be used to select various operating modes, monitor system status, and provide control and monitoring of internal settings.
