The MAX771CPA+ is an advanced, low quiescent current, ±2.5% accurate, high switching frequency triple output, Step-Up/Down DC-DC switching regulator in the family of Voltage Regulators, and DC DC Switching Controllers.
This step regulator is applicable for any number of battery-operated applications, for both fixed-voltage and wide adjustment ranges. The output-voltage adjustment range from 0.8V to 26V is provided through an external reference. The device also includes a soft-start function, fixed frequency operation, time-out protection and reverse current block protection.
The MAX771CPA+ features a non-synchronous rectifier control with dynamic power management. This provides excellent performance flexibility, allowing the device to implement many switching-regulator functions, such as tracking and parallel operation, in addition to step-up and step-down applications.
The MAX771CPA+ operates over a wide input-voltage range of 2.5V to 30V and has an output current of up to 1.2A. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +125°C. It is available in an 8-pin SOIC package for minimal board space.
This advanced device employs a current-mode control scheme to provide cycle-by-cycle current limiting and 700ns maximum duty-cycle limitation. The MAX771CPA+ is optimized for minimum quiescent current of less than 15µA and consumes only 25µA in on-state current. It reduces supply current by reducing the voltage on the power supply.
The MAX771CPA+ also includes other features such as pulse-by-pulse current limiting, over-temperature protection, a programmable soft-start and a power-good signal. It also has an asynchronous rectifier driver and a phase-shift network.
The MAX771CPA+ application offers many features and flexibility, while still maintaining high accuracy and low quiescent current. Its high switching frequency allows for the use of small components in the design and helps to reduce the size of the circuit. The MAX771CPA+ works with a basic principle.
