MAX792MCPE+ is a monolithic, low-power, SOT-23-packaged monitor, supervisor and system reset IC designed specifically to solve multiple core voltage power supply (VCC) monitoring and system reset functionality issues. It offers a wide range of features to meet different customer needs, including 0.47μA max power-up and power-down current for a 1.2V output voltage, high reset accuracy, fast reset propagation time (150μs max) and reverse supply protection. It also features an open-drain active-low output (active-low RESET) that signals a low-side reset when the input voltage drops too low or stays too low for adjustable time periods.Overview

The MAX792MCPEs family of devices provide power supply supervision and system reset features. The low-power supervisor monitors the VCC on-time and off-time conditions, and holds the RESET output-low in the case of an invalid VCC condition. Additionally, the delays for both rising and falling edges of VCC can be adjusted simply by the selection of external timing resistors. The RESET output is open-drain and user-configurable, allowing the user to implement active-high, active-low, or both reset levels.Application Fields

The MAX792MCPEs family of ICs employ a simple working principle. When powered up, the IC monitors the VCC and times the rising (tRISE) and falling (tFALL) edges of the power supply. If the VCC returns to the pre-determined level within the specified time period (tRISE & tFALL), the IC will hold its output (RESET) high;. If the VCC fails to reach the pre-determined level within the specified time period after power-up, the IC will pull its output low, causing a system reset. Similarly, if the VCC drops below the pre-determined level after the system is up and running, the IC will again pull its output low, causing a system reset. The pre-determined levels and the time periods are adjustable by the selection of external timing resistors.Conclusion
