Working Principle

If the VCC returns to the pre-determined level within the specified time period (tRISE & tFALL), the IC will hold its output (RESET) high;. If the VCC fails to reach the pre-determined level within the specified time period after power-up, the IC will pull its output low, causing a system reset. Similarly, if the VCC drops below the pre-determined level after the system is up and running, the IC will again pull its output low, causing a system reset. The pre-determined levels and the time periods are adjustable by the selection of external timing resistors.
