The MAX7920MCPE solution is a multi-channel power supply supervisors integrated circuit (IC) from MAXIM integrated circuits. It is a single-chip solution for detecting voltage, current, and temperature conditions in the operation of a system. It is designed to meet the increasing demand for low-cost, reliable, low-power supervisors.

The MAX7920MCPE is a two-package solution. The main IC is a 28-pin, 16-channel chip (MAX7920MCPE), while the second, much smaller IC is a 4-pin microcontroller (MCPE MPC180). The smaller IC is connected to the main IC and serves as an intelligent communication interface between the two. The main IC is designed to detect different voltage values, such as supply voltage levels, various faults, power rail tolerances, and temperature conditions in the system of operation. It then uses the value detected to generate a reset signal to the host processor with the intention of protecting it from malfunctioning or reliable operation.

Moreover, the MAX7920MCPE has up to 16 independent configurable input and output channels and it also provides up to 11 programmable reset or interrupt functions. Additionally, for monitoring multiple system levels simultaneously, the MAX7920MCPE has two programmable power rails, configurable open-drain output and two programmable “watchdog” input pins.

It works in the commercial temperature range from 0℃ to 70℃ and supports the Low-Voltage Assert (ALASSERT) and Power-On Reset (POR) functions.
