The MAX792MEPE+ is a member of a family of SUPERVISORS that is used by system designers to ensure that power-up and power-down operations are carried out at desired levels. This family includes Supervisor/Monitors and Power-On/Off Controllers. The MAX792MEPE+ is a fully integrated Power-On/Off Controller providing an array of capabilities that makes it highly suitable for managing DC-to-DC conversions and other power related operations. Power-up and power-down operations for the MAX792MEPE+ are managed by two identical integrated Power-On/Off Control blocks.
The MAX792MEPE+ provides system designers with complete flexibility and control over the operation of their systems. It is highly configurable, thanks to its integrated components, and its broad input range. The MAX792MEPE+ is specifically engineered to enable users to program the desired supply thresholds, load currents and timeouts, as well as the modes of operation. This facilitates the development of highly customized power control solutions.
The MAX792MEPE+ supports a wide variety of input sources and output loads, as it provides an operating input voltage range from 2.3V to 5.5V and up to two channels of output current. The output channels are embedded with an over-current and over-temperature protection circuit that senses both input supply and output load conditions. This ensures the reliability and safety of the system.
The MAX792MEPE+ also supports various modes of configured operation: manual, auto, force-off and force-on. In manual mode, changes in the power-up and power-down operations can be easily implemented. In auto mode, the MAX792MEPE+ automatically manages the power-up and power-down operations according to the load requirements. In force-off and force-on modes, the MAX792MEPE+ can maintain a state of power-up and power-down operations, respectively. For example, the MAX792MEPE+ can be configured to force-on output channels when the input voltage exceeds a pre-determined threshold.
The MAX792MEPE+ provides an integrated over-voltage protection circuit which is capable to detect and interrupt any overload when it is in an alarm condition. This monitors the output voltage and is capable to generate an active low alert signal to the power source when the output voltage exceeds a pre-defined threshold.
