MAX8808XETA+T is a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) designed for battery charging and power supply regulation. It is well suited for a variety of applications including mobile battery-operated devices and automotive systems. The device incorporates a N-channel topFET − a high-efficiency power switch which can provide up to 4 Amps of power supply current (−40°C to +85°C). It also provides a number of features including a separate powering stage, voltage feedback measurement, remote sensing of power supply voltage, current protection, overvoltage/undervoltage protection, thermal shutdown and short-circuit protection. The integrated charger for rechargeable batteries provides a maximum charge current of 587 mA in series connection with the topFET.

The MAX8808XETA+T is able to simultaneously regulate the output voltage and current by integrating a low-dropout regulator (LDO) or low-dropout switch (LDS) with an adjustable charge control circuit. The adjustable charge control circuit allows for precise adjustment of output voltage and current as well as for protection against overcurrent (OCP) and short-circuit protection. In addition, the LDO or LDS can be configured to provide either a synchronous or asynchronous power supply to the output.
