MAXREFDES114D is an evaluation board designed for DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS (Switch-Mode Power Supply). With its easy-to-understand front-end schematic diagram and configuration options, MAXREFDES114D can protect product designers and engineers more quickly and efficiently.
The MAXREFDES114D evaluation board is designed to provide an easy evaluation platform to study and develop applications with flexible design space and optimal performance. The MaxLinear MxL241SF PoL (point-of-load) DC/DC & AC/DC SMPS controller IC provides the control, feedback, monitoring and protection required for applications such as telecom transceivers, gate drives, linear power supplies, motor drives and many more. The operating frequency is in the range of 400kHz to 2.2MHz, the output voltage can be set from 0.6V to 8V, and the load current can be from 0A to 3A (depending on input voltage and output voltage).
The evaluation board features a range of features and capabilities, including an adjustable output voltage, programmable soft-start time, output current monitoring, and protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, and short-circuit conditions. In addition, the board also provides simple and efficient method to evaluate the circuit\'s performance with graphical user interface (GUI).
The MAXREFDES114D evaluation board is based on the MxL241SF PoL DC/DC & AC/DC SMPS controller to maximize the versatility of PoL SMPS devices. The evaluation board includes a switching regulator, adjustable output voltage, programmable soft-start time, output current monitoring, and protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, and short-circuit conditions. The Evaluation Board also includes a user manual, GUI with full test-bed control, and connection tips to facilitate use of the board in its different evaluation setups.
The MAXREFDES114D evaluation board includes the MxL241SF PoL DC/DC & AC/DC SMPS controller IC, an ESP32-WROOM-32D microcontroller, and associated components needed to construct optimal evaluation and development projects. The evaluation board provides an oscillator and a low-power interface, and a full MOSFET gate drive. It also includes a full MOSFET pre-driver & sensing portion that facilitates enhanced switching loss and dynamic response.
The MAXREFDES114D evaluation board can be powered from a wide range of voltage sources, such as unregulated DC or AC sources, including a standard “wall-plug”. The MAXREFDES114D board also features an Input Power Failsafe Circuit, which automatically shuts off the main power source if an error or fault is detected, providing high reliability and safety.
The evaluation board includes components for quick start of the design or evaluation which can be extended to develop a production-ready PoL SMPS power supply. The board is designed to reduce the time, cost and complexity of designing DC/DC & AC/DC off-line SMPS circuits and provides a complete evaluation platform for rapid development and evaluation.
