MAXREFDES130# Application Field and Working Principle
The MAXREFDES130# is a family of evaluation boards that allows users to test their own applications or circuits to determine its effectiveness. This board is offered in three distinct models: the MAXREFDES130#A, which is a power supply board; the MAXREFDES130#C, which tests circuit performance; and the MAXREFDES130#D, which is for evaluating signal conditioning circuits.The MAXREFDES130#A board includes a MOSFET-based switching converter architecture to provide step-down, step-up, or couple output modes. The working principle of the MAXREFDES130#A is based on a multi-channel selective analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with error detection, which converts input signals to digital data and then performs a frequency-to-digital conversion. The data obtained is used to control two high-frequency pulse waveforms in parallel, wherein two GaN power stages are used to regulate the output voltage accurately.The MAXREFDES130#C boards are based on a dual-channel time-interleaved ADC, which is designed to operate in a high-performance dynamic range, allowing users to test a wide variety of signal conditioning circuits such as bridge sensors, filter networks, and AC/DC-to-DC converters. This board utilizes a Multi-Level Modulation (MLM) technique, which features adjustable DC-link voltage levels and optimized PWM modulation for improved efficiency, thereby reducing load losses, THD, and transient speed.The MAXREFDES130#D board is an evaluation platform for AC/DC-to-DC converters and signal conditioning circuits. It is based on a quad-channel ADC, which converts analog signals into digital data that is then used to determine the switching control parameters of four independent groups of power switches, for modulation and zero-voltage switching (ZVS). The regulated output is then obtained via a stacked-inductor method or with a Liner Regulation (LR) technique.These MAXREFDES130# boards bring together the highest performance in terms of accuracy, power efficiency, transient response, and dynamic range.
