MAXREFDES145# application field and working principle
The MAXREFDES145# is an industrial temperature laser displacement comprehensive evaluation and demonstration board that is part of the Maxim Integrated evaluation kit. It is designed to easily evaluate and test the LDC2007 analog time of flight linear laser distance sensor. This tool is primarily used for range measurement applications such as inventory identification and robotic navigation. The evaluation board is based on the data received from the LDC2007, which makes it miniaturized, temperature compensated, reliable and economical.
The MAXREFDES145# consists of two components: a board containing the evaluation system, and the LDC2007 linear laser distance measurement sensor. The evaluation board has several evaluation features, which are independent of the laser distance measurement sensor. The main purpose of the MAXREFDES145# is to demonstrate the LDC2007, as well as to provide a platform for testing, debugging, and prototyping for various applications.
The evaluation board is composed of simple components that are capable of evaluatig 12 different parameters, such as signal-to-noise ratio, static stability, maximum temperature range, optical output power, output waveform, power supply range, etc. The board provides power to the LDC2007 and also reads and processes data from the sensor. The board can be connected either directly or through a USB port. The single-wire communication protocol allows the board to efficiently process and transfer data from the LDC2007 to a connected computer.
The evaluation board also has a control system that can be used to control the laser distance sensor. This control system includes a 16-bit microcontroller that is used to collect data from the LDC2007, as well as to control the pulse duration, frequency, and other parameters that are sent to the LDC2007. The microcontroller is connected to the evaluation board via a USB port and can be used to program the evaluation board.
