The MB9AFA32NPMC-G-SNE2 is an embedded microcontroller that is versatile, high-performance and highly integrated. It is designed for dedicated functions and applications such as controlling, monitoring and coordination of equipment and machinery. Its application field ranges from automotive, industrial to home appliance technology, robotics and many more applications.
The embedded microcontroller is built with a 32-bit core, embedded memory and multiple communication interfaces. Its architecture comprises of a 8-bit CPU core, increased stack size, a RAM pool, extensive embedded peripherals, multiple communication interface capabilities and many more features.
The MB9AFA32NPMC-G-SNE2 is equipped with an on-chip debug capabilities with an instruction breakpoint capability and an in-circuit emulator with the In-Circuit Debugger (ICD). It is also supported with an in-circuit debugging that uses flash memory for memory contents. In addition, the MB9AFA32NPMC-G-SNE2 also has several on-chip resources such as Timers, Serial Communications Interface (SCI), USART (Universal Synchronous/Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter), Watchdog Timers (WDT), Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC), Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC), Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM), and on-chip analog comparator.
The MB9AFA32NPMC-G-SNE2 features full-speed Power Debug System (PDS) that provides system development, debugging and programming support for the most demanding applications. It offers debugging and development in three ways – single chip, on-chip debugger, and border-mode debugging. The Debugger supports source level debugging, step-by-step execution and variable display to view the program behavior or data values. The on-chip debugger allows developers to view the program code running in circuit on the MCU. The border-mode debugging is designed to allow developers to debug their code in the absence of the final target.
The MB9AFA32NPMC-G-SNE2 also features Super Flash Memory (SFM) that enables faster programming of program code. This allows program code to be stored in ROM and programmed quickly so that software can be tested and changed at start-up. The on-chip ROM also stores a single vector table, a clock-integrity check routine, a power-on reset routine, an application-specific reset routine, and a library of in-line functions for user applications.
The MB9AFA32NPMC-G-SNE2 includes memory management system which allocates the on-chip RAM according to the user’s application. It is further supported by the Bus Matrix and Clock Control systems. The Bus Matrix system allows data to be transferred between internal functions, with the Clock Control system controlling the clocks for the internal peripherals. The MB9AFA32NPMC-G-SNE2 also supports multiple DMA channels and local interrupt controller (LOCIC) for efficient transfer of data between peripherals and memory.
In terms of the working principle, the embedded microcontroller is designed to have an efficient instruction decode, enabling a four-stage pipeline and allowing up to eight instructions to be executed sequentially. This enables the CPU to achieve a high-level of parallelism and results in a fast processing and reduced instruction time. The instruction decode is further backed by an on-chip memory controller (MEMC) to move data between internal memory and external memory and peripherals.
The MB9AFA32NPMC-G-SNE2 also comes equipped with a multiple interrupt controller (ICT) to enable fast interrupt response. It is also compatible with other interrupt controllers such as the STK and H8 controllers. The microcontroller has embedded high-speed on-chip operating system support to facilitate software development. Lastly, the Low Voltage Detection (LVD) system allows the MB9AFA32NPMC-G-SNE2 to detect low-voltage conditions and to automatically restart the system when necessary.
