The MC100ES8011PEFR2 is a clock buffer designed specifically for the clocking of data in high-speed communication systems. The MC100ES8011PEFR2 is a specialized IC that takes a signal from a single source (e.g. crystal oscillator) and outputs clones of that signal as well as fanouts that can then be used to drive multiple nodes. It includes features that enhance the jitter and reduce skews, via the internal termination, ground bounce and other constraints. The MC100ES8011PEFR2 is ideal for applications where high performance is required, such as networking, telecommunications and consumer applications.The MC100ES8011PEFR2 is designed for point-to-point transmission use in clock networks. It offers extended jitter performance requirements and low-noise operation. It provides a selectable 3.3V or 2.5V logic output voltage with a single terminated differential output. It also contains slew rate control, phase-locked loop (PLL) frequency multiplier options and tetracyclic-fallback features to increase reliability and system availability. With a high input frequency range of up to 800MHz, the MC100ES8011PEFR2 is ideal for high-speed applications.The MC100ES8011PEFR2 works by taking an incoming clock signal and distributing it to multiple phases. This is achieved by the use of an internal clock generator as well as a PLL frequency multiplier. The PLL frequencymultiplier allows the incoming clock to be divided into multiple high-frequency signals. Thesehigh-frequency signals are then output to the multiple redundant positive and negative clock outputs, for driving multiple nodes. The MC100ES8011PEFR2 also contains a slew-rate control to reduce noise-sensitive jitter and reduce ripple power. Additionally, tetracyclic-fallback technology is enabled to provide increased reliability.The MC100ES8011PEFR2 is ideal for applications such as high-speed Ethernet and Fibre Channel networks, where extended performance, low-noise operation and performance monitoring are desired. The MC100ES8011PEFR2 can also be used in other applications such as SONET, Infiniband, WAN and SAN communications, as well as other telecom, industrial and consumer communication systems.In summary, the MC100ES8011PEFR2 is an ideal IC for applications where high performance and reliability are paramount. It includes features such as a wide frequency range, skewed outputs, ground bounce reduction via internal termination, and tetracyclic-fallback technology.
