MC100H680FNG is an advanced logic-level translator from ON Semiconductor. With its market-leading low power design and enhanced features, it is ideal for applications requiring both 5V and 3.3V inputs and outputs, such as universal serial bus (USB), video/audio (VGA/DVI, HDMI), and memory card/flash interfacing.The MC100H680FNG is a high-speed, logic-level translator consisting of two part types: the H680FNG and the H680FNGQ. The H680FNG has a nominal V CC range of 2.5V to 3.6V, while the H680FNGQ has a V CC range of 1.65V to 3.6V. Both parts feature a 4-bit wide, bidirectional level shifting core, and are available in a space-saving VFQFN package.The MC100H680FNG has a number of features designed to maximize device performance, such as a selectable slew rate for power optimization, bidirectional level shifting capability and an active-low enable pin for input/output control. The device can be easily configured to multiple bi-directional buses and multiple channels, which gives designers flexibility in their design.The MC100H680FNG is well-suited for applications requiring low-voltage logic-level translation, such as the interfacing of 5V and 3.3V logic families. It can be used to bridge multiple channels between logic families, allowing an easy transition between protocols.Its working principle is based on a series of logic-level translators which can convert logic signals between low voltage and low power consumer electronics and higher voltage computer peripherals. The translators are designed to seamlessly translate between two different logic families. This allows them to be used in a variety of applications that require the communication between two different logic families.The device contains four separate 4-bit channels, one pair each in a high-to-low and low-to-high direction. Each channel can shift a maximum of 16 bits of data. The input-output timing is controlled by the selectable slew rate and the active-low enable pin. The PLL-based slew rate control feature allows the device to be used with a wide variety of devices, such as USB and DVI, where it is important to control the slew rate for both low-speed and high-speed devices.
