Working Principles

The MC14008BCPG is a synchronous register which is designed to accept parallel and serial input signals. It has two main sections namely the “Parallel-In” and “Shift-Out” sections. The “Shift-Out” section consists of 8 JK Flip-Flops which are used to shift the data through the register outputs.

The device has two clocking inputs namely “Parallel-In” and “Shift-Out”, when the input is applied to either of these inputs, the data stored in their associated section gets shifted. The “Parallel-In” input is used to shift the data into the 8 Flip-Flop stages while the “Shift-Out” input is used to move the data out of the 8 Flip-Flop stages. In this way the data stored in the register is able to move from one part of the device to another.
