MC14093BDG is a general-purpose 3-input CMOS logic gate. With three independent inputs and one output, the MC14093BDG can be used to implement a variety of logic functions in a single gate. They are designed so that all gates require only one common power supply voltage. Depending on the logic operation, the logic outputs can be in either active-high logic or active-low logic form.

Working Principle

The MC14093BDG supports both operation modes for logic functions. These functions are explained and illustrated below. When the logic function is performed using active-low logic (the circuit\'s output is normally in a high logic state when no input conditions are present), the logic output is set to a logical low state whenever all input conditions are met. Conversely, when the logic function is performed using active-high logic (the circuit\'s output is normally in a low logic state when no input conditions are present), the logic output is set to a logical high state only when all input conditions are met.

The MC14093BDG uses NAND logic, an example of which is shown below. In NAND logic, the output is in a high logic state when any one or more of the inputs are in a low logic state. In this example, when any of the inputs A, B, or C are in a low logic state, the output Z is in a low logic state. If all three inputs are in a high logic state, then the output Z is in a high logic state.
