MCF5281 is a low-cost family of 32-bit ColdFire micro-controllers from Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. It has a wide range of applications in diverse embedded markets and can be used for both consumer and industrial applications.

The MCF5281CVF80 features a timer module to provide host/guest synchronization, data transfer across network and low-power applications. The processor has three 16-bit timers, one of which is a PWM timer used for pulse-width modulation (PWM) of devices such as motors and actuators. The remaining two 16-bit timers can be used for general timing or for external event triggering. Separate input and output interrupts are provided for each of the two timers.
The processor also features an integrated RISC-style bus prefetcher, which eliminates the need for external bus latches or other bus buffering hardware. This feature reduces system cost and power consumption while simultaneously improving performance. The MCF5281CVF80 also provides an advanced interrupt controller with six pre-assigned priority levels.
