MCIMX6DL-SDP is an evaluation board featuring Freescale’s i.MX6DL SoC. This SoC is an ARM Cortex-A9 based application processor which aims to provide superior application performance, graphics capabilities and power efficiency. The board along with the SoC also packs a DDR3 memory, SATA II interface, a Gigabit Ethernet, I2C, JTAG, Watchdog timer, LCD display, etc. making us a powerful development platform for evaluating and verifying the performance of its various architectures.

Working Principle

It features a Freescale i.MX6DL SoC which is an ARM Cortex-A9 based application processor. It can clock up to a maximum frequency of 1GHz, has a 32KB L1 I-Cache, a 32KB L1 D-Cache, and a 256KB L2 Cache that increases its performance manifold. The board also packs a DDR3 memory with a maximum frequency of 800MHz, up to 8GB of storage, an on board SATA II interface, a Gigabit Ethernet controller, I2C, JTAG, Watchdog timer, LCD display, PCM Master/Slave interface, CAN for automotive applications, and four channels of SD In/Out interfaces with SDIO support.

The board runs the Linux and Android operating systems, and the display options offered are LCD, HDMI, LVDS, and S-Video. The board also supports HD decoding, including 1080p HD video decoding and encoder support. This makes it highly useful for embedded design applications that require a lot of multimedia capabilities. The board also provides PCM master/slave interface and CAN for automotive applications.
