The MCP1632T-BAE/MC is a versatile DC-DC switching controller designed to drive external N-Channel MOSFETs in DC-DC isolated and non-isolated applications. With integrated feedback, this part is capable of generating output voltages from 0.8 V to 5V for step-down and -0.8V to –4V for step-up. The MCP1632T-BAE/MC is designed to be used in low-power DC to DC switching power supplies. It includes an on-chip temperature monitor, a peak current sense amplifier, an internal 3-bit DAC, and a programmable comparator. The input voltage can range between -19V and 19V while the output voltage is adjustable from 0.8V to 5V or from -0.8V to -4 V (in hysteretic mode). The output voltage can be controlled using the voltage feedback pin, allowing for regulation during load and line transients to maintain the voltage at a desired level.

The device contains an internal high-frequency current mode PWM for smooth loop response. The proprietary architecture of the MCP1632T-BAE/MC allows for efficient control of either a synchronous or an asynchronous MOSFET. Its synchronization feature allows the use of multiple devices to spread the switching losses among multiple FETs.

The device provides on-chip protection features to ensure safe operation in the event of an overvoltage, short-circuit, over-temperature, or overtemperature condition. It also contains short-circuit protection (SCP) which prevents the device from operating in the event of an output short circuit. The device has an overtemperature protection (OTP) feature which turns off the device when the die temperature exceeds a predetermined level.

The MCP1632T-BAE/MC is packaged in a tiny, lead-free QFN or TSSOP. It is rated for operation from -40 to +85°C, making it ideal for any application that needs a wide input voltage range, wide output voltage range, small package size, and low quiescent current with high efficiency.
