The MCP1650DM-DDSC1 is an evaluation board designed to showcase key features of the MCP1650 device family. This family of Switch-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) ICs is highly efficient and extremely versatile for both DC/DC and AC/DC applications. It offers per-device data retention and programmability for off-line to high-line AC/DC operation over a wide range of input voltages, as well as high-efficiency DC/DC step-down operations in a small package.
MCP1650DM-DDSC1 comes with various features that make it suitable for a wide range of applications. When operated as a DC/DC converter, the MCP1650DM-DDSC1 allows for up to 95% efficiency, enabling significant energy savings and reduces heat dissipation, resulting in a better operating environment. It also feature low external component count and integrated fault protection, providing designers with flexibility and reliability.
The MCP1650DM-DDSC1 evaluation board utilizes the MCP1650 device family\'s peak-Current-Mode (PCM™) control architecture with integrated DEAD TIME Control (DTC™), enabling users to precisely control output current and dynamically adjust outputs without sacrificing compatibility. Its integrated "Hot Swap"™ and "Soft Start"™ features allow users to drive the device with lower current during startup or fault conditions. The "Hot Swap"™ and "Soft Start"™ features can be enabled/disabled with a single pin or remotely through a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI).
For AC/DC applications, the MCP1650DM-DDSC1 evaluation board enables a wide range of input voltages (85VAC to 265VAC) with low parts count and light loads, making it a great choice for lighting, office automation, and HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) applications. In addition, it is designed to operate with a wide range of output voltages, allowing the user to configure the output voltage setting from 4.1V to 78V.
The MCP1650DM-DDSC1 allows users to evaluate the performance of the MCP1650 device family. This evaluation board has an integrated user-interface, allowing users to adjust the mode of the board, select parameters, adjust the output voltage and monitor the current and voltage outputs. It also comes with the Power Manager Graphical User Interface (GUI) software, which allows the user to interface with and evaluate the device through a graphical user interface.
