Working Principle:

The MCP6031-E/MS is a two-stage monolithic amplifier, consisting of a differential input stage with an output current source, a bias control stage and an output stage. The differential input stage consists of two input transistors connected in a common-drain configuration, with the sources of these connected to the gate of an output current source. The gate of this current source is biased by an external resistor and operates as an active load in the differential configuration, allowing input signals with low common-mode voltages to be amplified. The outputs of the two input transistors are level-shifted with a bias control stage and then ac coupled to the output stage. This output stage consists of two PNP transistors in a cascode configuration, providing good unity gain frequency and enables the use of a single power supply voltage.

The MCP6031-E/MS has excellent DC precision, allowing the device to be used in precision circuit, such as instrumentation, automotive and RF applications. The device also has very good AC performance, with a typical unity gain bandwidth of 50MHz and a slew rate of 40V/μs.
