Optoisolators – Transistor, Photovoltaic Output, commonly known as MCT5210VM, offer an isolated voltage and is also regarded as a transitor output opto-coupler. This type of optocoupler provide a secure transfer of high voltage current between two components which are electrically isolated. The MCT5210VM series devices offer enhanced performance, higher current transfer ratio, faster speed and improved linearity.

The MCT5210VM consists of a phototransistor which is coupled with an infrared LED. It is mainly designed to be paired with an NPN transistor. The LED when illuminated by the input current, which is typically 0.5mA, will emit infrared light which will be absorbed by the base of the phototransistor, exciting it and switching it on. This will then apply current to the collector, consequently allowing the base of NPN transistor to be illuminated and switched on as well.

The MCT5210VM optocouplers are most commonly used in applications where a secure transfer of high voltage current between two components which are electrically isolated is required.
