Application Field and Working Principle

The MIC2169BYMME-TR is an advanced, high-speed DC-DC controller from Microsemi\'s enhanced MIC2200 family. The MIC2250 is a true 32-bit RISC controller optimized for high-power applications applications such as power-factor correction and fast signal-controlled step-down DC-DC conversions. It features a hardware-accelerated PFC algorithm with a two-loop design and linear valley-fill.

The MIC2280 provides ultra-low of 25mA quiescent current with fast transient response and a light-load quiescent current of only 14mA. It has a wide buck-mode input voltage range of 3.5V to 28V. The internal regulator of the MIC2250 is optimized to sustain a wide range of input voltages.

The MIC2250 has a dedicated PWM logic that provides accurate and fast PWM control. It features a fast charge clock circuit for faster transition times and short transition intervals. The fast charge clock circuit is designed for high-page throughput. The chip has an internal 3.2GHz clock and 16-bit PWM timer.

The MIC2250 is capable of controlling up to four outputs, each with programmable current sense and voltage sense. Current sense is adjustable to 10A increments, while voltage sense is adjustable to base 0.1V increments. The chip also has an adjustable over-current protection of up to 30A.

The MIC2280 provides advanced current control feature which enables dynamic current control based on sense and feedback. The high-performance current control enables efficient power delivery to a load while maintaining tight current limits and meets efficiency standards like Energy Star.

In addition, the MIC2250 offers a variety of features to provide enhanced protection and performance. The chip includes programmable power-good, under-voltage management, overvoltage protection and hysteresis. It also features auto-softstart control which increases the current limits, from 5% to full power, after a predetermined time.

The MIC2250 also offers adjustable slew-rate and compensation settings, adjustable dead-time and adjustable low-side gate drive and high-side gate drive. The chip has adjustable frequency and phase compensation settings, to ensure stability. The chip has built-in PFC synchronization for fast and efficient operation.

The MIC2250 is available in both a 20-Pin SOIC package and a 10-pin, 8 or 10mm TQFN package. It is suitable for a wide range of applications in industrial, automotive, consumer, medical and communication products.
