Working Principle

The MIC2182-3.3BSM utilizes a current mode power supply design. It senses the current through a current sense resistor (Rsense) and a voltage sense input (V_sense). Based on these inputs, it adjusts its switching frequency as well as the duty cycle of its internal MOSFET switch (Q1) in order to maintain the desired output voltage. The MOSFET switch is controlled by pulse-width modulation (PWM), which allows the MIC2182-3.3BSM to produce a stable, low-noise output voltage. The MIC2182-3.3BSM also regulates ramp up and ramp down of the MOSFET switch for soft start and light load power saving. Additionally, the IC has built-in over current and thermal protection.

The MIC2182-3.3BSM is a highly efficient switching controller and can achieve efficiencies up to 95%. It also has very low quiescent current and fast transient response, making it ideal for low-power, applications that require reliable current regulation and voltage regulation up to 3.3V.
