The family of linear voltage regulator integrated circuits (IC) is designed for power-management applications, such as desktop computers and handheld devices like mobile phones and PDAs. The MIC2212-LPBML (Low Power Boost Mode Linear) is a high performance and flexible integrated circuit, providing up to 2.5 A output current, adjustable output voltage up to a maximum of 17 V and integrated power management features such as enabling, forcing, adaptive burst-mode operation, over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, dynamic power adjustment and flexible output configuration. For example, the MARGIN pin allows the user to select a higher or lower reference voltage than the programmed output voltage, while the ENABLE pin can be pulled low to reduce the operating current of the regulator when it is not needed. It also includes an adaptive burst-mode feature that can be used to reduce the operating current at light loads, an over-voltage protection circuit that can be enabled or disabled, and a user-programmable voltage scaling feature that can be used to adjust the output voltage dynamically in response to system needs.
