This transistor is modulated by a voltage feedback signal from VOUT. The difference between the feedback voltage and the reference voltage sets the operating current of the PNP transistor and establishes the output voltage. A second PNP transistor is used to control the bias current, which is proportional to the error voltage between the reference voltage and the feedback voltage. The bias current is then used to control the chopping frequency and acts as a control loop to regulate the output voltage. The chopped current is then filtered and rectified to provide a low-dropout voltage. Thanks to this, the voltage dropout less than 200mV can be achieved with a 4.5V input. The MIC29151-5.0WU-TR features a dynamic thermal range compensation circuit. This circuit monitors the internal temperature and dynamically adjusts the output current limit to ensure reliable operation. The regulator can achieve up to 5A of continuous output current without resorting to heavy and costly heat sinks.
