MIC2954-02BS is a low dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulator from the Micrel, Inc. family of innovative power management products. This second-generation LDO features fast line and load transient response, low shutdown current, and a wide input/output voltage range (1.375V to 28V). The MIC2954-02BS is designed for use with a wide range of battery, distributed power system and point-of-load (POL) applications including but not limited to cable modems, set-top boxes, hot-swap boards, data networking processors and gateways.

Working Principle

The MIC2954-02BS is a full-featured LDO voltage regulator designed to deliver precise and stable output voltage even at light loading. This device utilizes Micrel’s advanced bipolar process technology to achieve high accuracy and low noise. Its innovative Drain-Isolated Dynamic OUTput Clamp (DOC) mechanism prevents output aberrations at fast output transitions thereby ensuring reliable performance in real-world environments. The voltage diver is enabled by an internal PMOS pass-transistor with an effective series resistance of 10mΩ allowing a maximum output current of 1A. Three-terminal externally adjustable output voltage ranges from 1.375V to 28V. The input voltage range is 1.2V to 8V. Device enablement is done with a logic control input operating from 1.2V up to 36V.
