<div class="fuses"> <h2>MIC3005.V Application Field</h2> <p>The MIC3005.V is a low voltage MOSFET in a miniature SOT23 package used to provide power supply protection. This device is a three-terminal positive voltage regulator integrated circuit that can be used as an over voltage protection (OVP), reverse voltage protection (RVP), current limiting, distribution, load switching, and fault level detection. It is available in both RoHS compliant and non-RoHS compliant packaging options.</p> <h2>Working Principle</h2> <p>The MIC3005.V operates on a feedback principle (Figure 1), and the voltage and current sense lines (pins 4 and 7) connected to the protected voltage being monitored. The device has three active internal voltage references, that is, the UV performance is adjustable, the over voltage and the under voltage. This allows for both pin-selectable and adjustable (with a simple resistor network) over and under voltage parameters.</p> <p> With the control voltage set to high (VSH = 2V), the drain current control section is in the off state with no switch (M2) closed. All pins are in high impedance state, no load is active, and the output voltage is set to zero.</p> <p> With the control voltage low (VSL = 0V), the drain current control section is in an on state, allowing current to flow. The MIC3005.V employs two tuned cascode transistors (M1 and M2) to provide an adjustable fixed level of current limiting protection. When the load current exceeds the current limit, the device switches open the cascode transistors. This ensures that the load current is limited to the user-defined current limit. The duration of the open state depends on the value of the current limit.</p> <p>The MIC3005.V also contains a high voltage switch enable pin (VDP) that can be used to disable the switch section of the device in order to avoid high voltage transients. The switch enable pin provides additional protection for sensitive circuitry from high current transients that a low voltage switch may not be able to handle.</p> <h2>Conclusion</h2> <p>The MIC3005.V is an ideal solution for low voltage power supply protection, reverse voltage and over voltage protection, current limiting, distribution, and load switching.
