The MIC33050-SYHL-EV is an evaluation board for DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS. This board is a complete power supply system solution for space-constrained applications in power-sensitive applications such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and audio. This board provides a flexibility in design, while preserving the reliability and performance of an off-line SMPS solution.

The MIC33050-SYHL-EV board utilizes a single-stage half-bridge synchronous rectification (SR) Flyback topology and the MIC33050 high-voltage PWM controller, a well-suited device for efficient, reliable switching power converter designs. This device integrates a primary-side gate driver, optimized-for-efficiency 0.25 ohm MOSFETs, and a dedicated secondary controller. Features include a line compensation network, which automatically traces down transient line disturbances on the input line, such as those that are sometimes found in the avionics and automotive environments, and maintains voltage regulation.

The MIC33050-SYHL-EV board offers extensive evaluation of the MIC33050 in an easy-to-use form factor. The board has a 3V-6V wide input voltage range with an adjustable secondary output voltage range of 0.8V to 12V. It supports a maximum load current of 5A for the main output and a maximum peak load current of 15A for each post regulation output. The board also includes an EMI filter with an adjustable EMI GND strap to reduce conducted EMI related to switching power supplies.

In terms of efficiency, the MIC33050-SYHL-EV offers an efficiency of up to 97% at low standby power consumption. In addition to high efficiency, an on-board load/no load low power consumption system (LPCS) keeps the operating power consumption of the board low as the load current decreases, making sure the board operates at peak efficiency over the entire load range. The board also provides short-circuit and under-voltage protection.
