The MIC4690YM is a high-performance synchronous buck dc-to-dc switching regulator. It can accept input voltages over a wide range, and operates to supply up to 0.9A of output current with very high efficiency. The MIC4690YM features wide-bandwidth 1.14 Mhz PWM control, high performance Error Amplifier and a low dropout linear regulator.It is an ideal choice for point-of-Load step-down applications that require high current capabilities, such as processors, DSPs, FPGA and microcontrollers.

Working Principle

The MIC4690YM operates on the principle of synchronous buck dc-to-dc switching regulation. It features a wide-bandwidth 1.14 Mhz PWM control and a high performance Error Amplifier that adjusts the inductor’s current limit to accurately control the output voltage. The Sync Buck regulator also includes a low dropout linear regulator that keeps the output voltage constant if the input voltage drops below the regulated output voltage.

The MIC4690YM is a highly efficient dc-to-dc voltage regulator with a very low output voltage ripple, high accuracy and excellent power efficiency. It accepts input voltages from 8V to 40V, and provides an adjustable output voltage from 0.6V to 5.5V. The device also includes a low dropout linear regulator for low-power loads, as well as a built-in soft start charger for battery-powered circuitry.

In order to improve the system performance, the MIC4690YM incorporates Advanced Burst Mode Control, which allows it to enter a low power mode when its output current is below a pre-defined level. This reduces power dissipation, noise and EMI, making it an ideal choice for battery-powered and energy-efficient applications.
