MIC4127BME

Power Management Integrated Circuits (PMICs) are a family of devices used to integrate and manage power conversion, power switching and power sequencing functions. Many different PMICs have been developed to meet various application requirements. One of these PMIC devices is the MIC4127BME, which is an advanced charge pump gate driver.

The MIC4127BME is a PMIC that offers high-current gate drivers which can drive large loads with ease. It offers very low RDS(on) to minimize power consumption and is capable of controlling high-side and low-side devices. Application Fields

Due to its high-current MOSFET gate drivers, the MIC4127BME is ideally suited for driving loads such as stepper motors and brushed DC motors in industrial and redundant power supplies. Working Principle

The MIC4127BME works with N-channel MOSFETs and can drive high- and low-power devices. It utilizes a charge pump topology to drive the N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs. The charge pump circuitry is designed to maintain a differential voltage of Vc from the gate of the MOSFET across its two power outputs, Vc1 and Vc2. When the output voltage Vc2 is greater than Vc1, the TOP N-channel MOSFET is turned on and the BOT P-channel MOSFET is turned off and vice versa.

The MIC4127BME has two gate drive channels; the TOP and BOT channels. The gate drivers typically operate independently of each other but can also be connected in parallel which allows the driver to deliver a more powerful gate drive current. The driver has an adjustable Vcc voltage range of 3.0 to 15V and is capable of driving a wide range of N-channel MOSFETs.

The MIC4127BME also offers an external synchronization and reset feature. This allows the user to control the on/off sequence of the gate drivers through an external input. The synchronization feature is particularly useful for applications such as motor control and motor drives.
