MIC4827BMM

The MIC4827BMM is a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) lighting ballast controller for high frequency electronic fluorescent dimming systems. This ballast monitor and driver device provides the functional interface between the PWM dimmer module and the lighting ballast. The device can operate within a 12 to 36V DC supply voltage range, and supports two dimming modes – 0-10V analog dimming and digital PWM dimming.

Its purpose is to provide a means of controlling the current delivered to the light source and adjusting the light accordingly. The MIC4827BMM contains a low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator and two low-side MOSFETs. The internal LDO regulator supplies the control logic with a constant and accurate 8V supply voltage, while the two low-side MOSFETs are used to connect the dimming signal to the light source and provide the dimming functionality.

The MIC4827BMM features constant frequency dimming, which eliminates many of the problems commonly associated with older dimming technologies. This eliminates flicker and buzzing when dimming, provides a uniform output, and allows for greater control over the lighting level. Furthermore, the MIC4827BMM includes a number of safety features to ensure the device is operating properly. It includes an over-voltage and over-current protection circuit to prevent damage to the connected components and to the lighting system. In addition, the device has a brown-out protection which prevents the device from operating if the supply voltage is below either its 7.5V minimum turn on voltage, or 4.2V under light load conditions.
