The MIC5208-4.0YMM is a voltage regulator from the Linear Voltage Regulators range from Power Management IC (PMIC) containing low dropout regulator (LDO) features 5V of maximum output, and up to 4.0 A of maximum current. This voltage regulator is capable of providing very high levels of accuracy, high output ripple rejection and stability, as well as excellent line and load regulation for both (4.5V to 28V) input voltage. The MIC5208 has a strong power stage design and it has excellent thermal performance characteristics.

Description

The MIC5208 is an output voltage regulator with an internal current sense, current limiting, and thermal shutdown protection. It features a low reference voltage of 0.225V with a minimum output voltage of 0.5V and a maximum of 5.5V. The input voltage range is 4.5V to 28V with typical quiescent current of 4.5mA. The MIC5208 can support up to 4.0A of load current and it can deliver a maximum of 35W output power.

Working Principle

The MIC5208-4.0YMM is a linear regulator which operates at a constant voltage. The regulator monitors the input voltage, and when the input voltage increases above the output voltage, the integrated linear regulator will adjust the output voltage to keep it constant. The regulator also has a current sense feature that monitors the current going through the regulator and turns off in the event of an overtemperature or overvoltage event.
