WORKING PRINCIPLE

The MIC5317-2.5YD5-TR voltage regulator consists of two elements: an error amplifier and a series-pass transistor, which are connected in a feedback loop. The output of the error amplifier is compared with the output from the voltage sensing resistor. When the voltage at the output of the error amplifier is higher than at the voltage sensing resistor, the series-pass transistor is turned on and current is allowed to flow through it. This results in the output voltage being regulated as the current is regulated by the series-pass transistor. When the output voltage drops, the error amplifier will detect this and will increase the output current, thus regulating the output voltage.
