The MIC6315-26D2U TR is a voltage supervisor integrated circuit (PMIC-supervisor) from Microchip. It is intended for use in a variety of applications that require accurate, microprocessor-controlled monitoring and supervision of power supplies, along with full-time database archival, current-detection, and other features. It is specifically designed to be used to monitor large, critical, and mission critical systems, such as servers and servers-class system on chip (SoC) designs.

The MIC6315-26D2U TR voltage supervisor is a low-power, low-noise, and ultra-low-voltage regulator with a high thermal stability rate, which is ideal for use in high-dynamic applications. The device has a wide input voltage range of 2.2 to 28 V and a maximum output voltage of 2.3 V. It is available in a 4 mm x 4 mm QFN package, with enhanced thermal performance and electro-magnetic interference (EMI) immunity, making it a suitable choice for use in medical, enterprise, telecom, and industrial applications.

The regulator features a push-button reset input and an overvoltage lockout circuit that ensures accurate voltage levels on the output. The over-voltage lockout circuit can be enabled to completely eliminate the need for external overvoltage protection and is capable of withstanding up to 100 V. The push-button reset input is also convenient for manual resetting of low voltage conditions.

The MIC6315-26D2U TR also includes a 3-V to 5-V conversion circuit. This feature allows the voltage supervisor to be used in applications where a 3-V supply rail needs to be adapted to a 5-V supply rail in order to earn the system wide compatibility. The regulator will monitor the output voltage of the 3-V supply rail to ensure voltage accuracy.

The MIC6315-26D2U TR has an adjustable 60 ms watchdog timer. This feature prevents the system from freezing, stalling, or resetting due to loss of communication, hardware failure, or software corruption. The watchdog timer can also be programmed to give a warning before resetting the system. The watchdog timer also includes a windowing feature, which makes it possible to reduce the time between warning messages and reset pulses.

The MIC6315-26D2U TR also features an internal current sensor. This sensor is used to monitor the current consumption of over-voltage components, such as flash memory, DDR memory, or voltage regulator modules (VRMs), to ensure the accurate supply of power to the system. The current sensor will shut down the system if the current consumption exceeds the specified limits.

The MIC6315-26D2U TR voltage supervisor also offers an enable input and a shut-down input. The enable input can be used to enable and disable the regulator while the shutdown input can be used to turn off the device to conserve power when the system is idle.
