MIKROE-1397 Application Field and Working PrincipleThe MIKROE-1397 evaluation board is an embedded platform for development of applications based on the ARM Cortex-M0+ MCU, DSP, microcontroller (MCU) and digital signal processor (DSP) architectures. The board features ARM’s Cortex-M0+ architecture, the low-power “Energy Efficient ARMv6-M Unified Core” core (VUE-6M) manufactured on a 65nm process. This board is plugged into a standard breadboard and is intended for use with other devices.
The core of MIKROE-1397 is a core ARM Cortex-M0+ processor. This processor is a 32-bit processor with an instruction set optimized for low-power and low-cost embedded applications. The processor includes a rich set of peripherals used for communication, analogue and digital signal processing, memory, interrupt handling and general purpose control.
The processor runs off a 25MHz clock frequency and supports both the ARMv6-M and Thumb study instruction sets. The MIKROE-1397 evaluation board supports the ARM Cortex-M0+ architecture and includes 512KB of flash memory, 64KB of low-power SRAM, and two 32KB SRAM for embedded applications. Additionally, the board includes a micro USB 2.0 connector, three LEDs (green, blue and orange), four push buttons, UART, I2C, SPI, JTAG, and an SD socket.
The board includes two on-board power sources, one from USB and the other from a 9V battery, allowing user to directly program and debug without an external power supply. Also, the board includes an embedded debugger and a bootloader as part of the ARM CoreSight system. The product package includes a quick-start guide, software examples, and tools to enable users for a quick and easy getting started.
The MIKROE-1397 evaluation board is targeted towards a variety of applications ranging from low-power embedded systems, such as home automation, single board computers to industrial control systems, and motor control. Furthermore, the board can be used for development of applications that require real-time operation, such as Human Machine Interface (HMI), robotics and automotive systems.
Making use of the core ARM Cortex-M0+ processor, the board allows developers to achieve fast and reliable performance along with high energy efficiency. By making use of the peripherals such as the USB connector, UART, IIC, SPI, and JTAG, the board allows for fast prototyping and embedding of complex designs, making it an ideal platform for the development of application specific projects.
The MIKROE-1397 evaluation board is designed to work in conjunction with other toolchains and SDKs as well. This allows developers to write and debug code using popular tools such as Keil® uVision™, IAR Embedded Workbench®, and C Compiler. Additionally, this board has been certified for use with FlexibleCODE, the open source “Visual Studio Code” (VSCode)-based IDE.
