The MJN2C-N-DC110 power relay is suitable for all applications which demand high power loads at good performance. This versatile power relay has an insulation system rated at 200VAC/DC, 2.8A and a coil rated at 12V DC, 0.2A. It has a temperature range of -30°C to +80°C and its life expectancy is rated at 1 million operations. This relay can be used for the control of a broad variety of applications, such as for lighting, audio systems, DC motors, and other high-power circuits.

Design

The MJN2C-N-DC110 power relay is a compact, hermetically sealed design which has both a single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) switch with a Normally Open (NO) and a Normally Closed (NC) contact. The Normally Open contact means that when the coil is not energized, the contact stays open. Conversely, the normally closed contact means that when the coil is not energized, the contact stays closed. This contact arrangement helps to reduce the chance of sparks that can occur when the power is switched off. The NC contact is often used to act as a fail-safe for the power circuit, ensuring that power cannot move until the relay is activated. The MJN2C-N-DC110 also has a jumper screw that can be used to adjust the voltage applied to the coil. This allows for use in a range of different voltage applications.

Working Principle

The MJN2C-N-DC110 relay works by using magnetic energy to operate a switch in order to control and switch circuits on and off. When the coil is energized, a solenoid is formed within the relay which generates a magnetic field. This magnetic field attracts a metal armature which makes contact between the NO and NC terminals. To de-energize the solenoid, a current must be cut off from the coil.
