Working principle:

The MK1707SILF uses a phase locked loop (PLL) to generate precise clock signals from a reference clock. The device is designed to operate from a +5V supply and accepts a wide range of input frequencies from 10 MHz to 300MHz. The PLL consists of a high-speed voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and phase/frequency detector that locks a low-jitter output signal to the incoming reference clock.

The output of the PLL is programmed using either a serial interface or a network of programmable logic devices (PLDs) to select between different frequencies and output modes.
