The MK1714-01RTR is a multifunctional Clock Generator, Phase-Locked Loop (PLL), and Frequency Synthesizer device. It is designed to provide high-precision clock and timing signals for high-performance data processing, networking and communications systems. The device can be used in a variety of applications such as synchronous Ethernet, CAT5/6 Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Point to Point Protocol (PPP), RS-232, ISDN and ADSL networks.The MK1714-01RTR is based on a high-performance architecture that combines a PLL, Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator (VCXO) and Frequency Synthesizer (FS) circuits. This device is designed to provide maximum flexibility and reliability when it comes to generation of highly accurate clock and timing signals. The FS circuit is capable of generating up to 24 different clock outputs with only one input signal. Each output can be tuned to any frequency between 0.5 hertz and 600 MHz.The MK1714-01RTR provides a wide range of features and functions, including voltage range and intermediate frequency programmability, frequency selectivity, output power control, and an integrated Pulse Width Modulator (PWM) to adjust the output profile. It also includes an attenuator and an adjustable amplifier to adjust its input voltage.The VCXO and PLL circuits can be used together or separately. The VCXO circuit is designed to provide low noise, low jitter and low frequency offsets. The VCXO can be tuned with an external voltage source, or the device can be programmed with a coarse resolution to allow for user-definable frequency bands.
