MK1728AM-01LFT is a frequency synthesizer module, manufactured by the company Murata manufacturing Co., Ltd. The device combines a reference-clock oscillator and a digitally-controlled frequency synthesizer in a 1.2mm×1.2mm package, for the generation of precise clock frequencies.The module is ideal for applications that require high frequency accuracy in a small footprint. It features low jitter for improved performance, and has a single-ended input, with a maximum frequency of 30MHz. It has a wide frequency range from 10 to 30MHz in steps of 0.125MHz. The output frequencies from MK1728AM-01LFT can be generated in either a continuous-clock or an event-based fashion.The module supports three different operating modes:1. Continuously Clock (C-Clock): This mode allows the frequency adjustment of the oscillator output to be continuously and independently set. The output frequency can be adjusted in steps of 0.125MHz.2. Event-Based Clock (E-Clock): This mode allows the user to select pre-programmed frequencies as well as a trigger start/end frequency. The user also has the option to set the period of the output signal.3. Radio Frequency Clock (R-Clock): In this mode, the module allows the user to select pre-programmed frequencies as well as a trigger start and end frequency. The output frequency can be adjusted in steps of 0.0625MHz.In the C-Clock and E-Clock modes, MK1728AM-01LFT provides output frequencies that are precisely tuned according to an external reference clock. The reference frequency for C-Clock and R-Clock modes is usually 13 MHz. The reference clock must have at least a +3dBm minimum input power level to operate properly.MK1728AM-01LFT provides four control modes of Digital Phase-Locked Loop (DPLL) circuits:1. Normal DPLL Mode: In this mode, the module provides the minimum jitter, but has a slow lock speed.2. Fast DPLL Mode: In this mode, the module has an increased lock speed but less jitter accuracy.3. Fastest Lock Mode: In this mode, the module has the fastest lock speed but less jitter accuracy.4. Low Jitter Mode:In this mode, the module provides the maximum jitter accuracy but has a slow lock speed.The module also has several external components, including a quartz crystal for a reference clock and an evaluation board for measuring the performance of the device. The device supports static or dynamic WDT power gating.Various application fields include communications, measurement and control, automotive, and consumer/industrial electronics.
