MM900EV2A is a powerful development board for easy prototyping of motion control applications. It is an evaluation board with on-board STM32F103VE microcontroller and Motion Motor 1.1 motor drive, which enables development of basic control algorithms with minimal installation efforts. The board offers numerous features that include a TFT LCD display, dual-channel encoder, digital I/O, 5V I/O, quadrature/direction input, motor direction and speed control, etc. With its various features, the board caters to development of efficient motion control applications.

The MM900EV2A evaluation board enables you to perform speedy and efficient prototyping of motion control algorithms. It supports numerous features and is driven by STM32F103VE microcontroller. The advanced MCU is powered by ARM Cortex-M3 CPU and contains 128KB of flash memory and 48KB of SRAM. The embedded motor drive on board is capable of driving a Nema-17/23/34 stepper motor or two brushed DC motors, and provides a low-profile platform for quick prototyping.

The board supports a wide variety of motion control commands, such as profile-monitored speed, position, jogging, force and vibration. The MM900EV2A has two independent dual-channel encoders for robust motion control feedback as well as a 5V I/O interface connection to sensor unit, allowing for real-time motion feedback. In addition, the board features an onboard selectable amplifier for setup ease, various master/slave communication communications and motor enable/disable functions. This makes it ideal for applications such as micro-robotic motion control, home automation, HMI interfaces and machine vision systems.

The working principle of the MM900EV2A evaluation board revolves around the STM32F103VE microcontroller. This 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 MCU serves as the main control unit of the board. It is responsible for driving the various features of the evaluation board, such as motor control, motion control algorithms, digital I/O connectivity, encoder feedback, signal acquisition and data processing. The connected motor drive unit is able to drive two brushed DC motors or a Nema17/23/34 stepper motor with ease.

The board features a USB interface for PC connection. This interface can be used to upload motion control algorithms onto the board, process commands, validate feedback from the encoder, control motor speed, measure motion parameters and validate output data. The board also contains a JTAG/SWD connector that facilitates remote debugging. This allows the user to control the debugging process while tracking program execution at distant location.
