The MMA6262Q is a high-performance three-axis low-g microelectromechanical system (MEMS) accelerometer with a selectable full scale range of ±2 g or ±6 g. It is designed for use in gaming and motion-based applications which require high linearity, low offset, fast output response time, and high-resolution. The accelerometer is uniquely designed to measure both dynamic acceleration (vibration) and static acceleration (tilt) signals, and to convert them into two analog outputs (Xout and Yout).This accelerometer utilizes a capacitive MEMS sensing element to measure acceleration. This element is basically a miniaturized three-axis direction-sensing capacitive transducer. When acceleration is applied, the MEMS sensing element deflects, causing a change in capacitance. The MMA6262Q accelerometers convert an input acceleration into digital or analog output signals in the x, y, and z directions.The MMA6262Q accelerometer’s performance is dominated by the capacitive sense element’s low noise and low temperature coefficient, providing high accuracy and low-power operation over the operating temperature range. The X, Y, and Z Outputs are calculated directly from acceleration on an axis-by-axis basis. The Z-axis is available in two different versions, including ±2 g and ±6 g ranges.The programmable filters are designed to reduce the rate output noise. By using one of the two programmable filters, the noise is reduced from 0.2 mV/°/s to 0.04 mV/°/s. Another key element of the design is the noise shaping filter, which provides a very low output noise at low frequencies. The accelerometer’s data rate range is from 0.008 Hz to 1600 Hz.The MMA6262Q accelerometer is powered by an on-board frequency oscillator that generates a single low voltage clock signal. It requires an initial supply voltage of 2.3 – 3.6V. The power supply for the MMA6262Q accelerometer is robust enough to handle large input voltage swings without any performance losses.The MMA6262Q is highly integrated and measures only 7×7.5×1.45 mm providing superior performance in a small form factor. The digital outputs of the device can be sent to a host microprocessor or controller to provide a wide variety of motion detection measurements, including: direction and speed of motion, acceleration, distance, gyroscopic measurements, and angle sensing. The analog outputs are also available to allow direct sensing by analog circuitry.This accelerometer is available in a through-hole package for fast prototyping and is suitable for various industrial applications as well as consumer applications. It is suitable for mobile device applications, including smartphones and tablets, and wearable applications such as fitness bands, smart watches,etc. In addition, the MMA6262Q is extremely low power consumption and is capable of operating for extended periods without changing batteries.The MMA6262Q is a must-have component for any system requiring the highest performance and smallest size accelerometer.
