Optoisolators are devices used to isolate two circuits, with one side being an optical side and the other being an electrical side. MOC208M is a two channel optoisolator series manufactured by Fairchild Semiconductor. This device can help protect sensitive equipment from dangerous spikes in current as it requires the optical side of the circuit to be connected to the signal inputs, while the secondary side of the optoisolator receives the output signal.

The MOC208M is an optocoupler specifically developed for photovoltaic applications. It is packaged in an 8-pin Mini Small Outline package and contains an LED optically activated device that acts as an optical gate when voltage is applied. When the LED is forward biased, light is generated and falls on the photovoltaic cell, which generates a voltage in response. This voltage is then used as the output.

The MOC208M optoisolator is used in a variety of photovoltaic applications, such as solar tracking systems, photovoltaic water pumping systems, photovoltaic lighting systems, and other photovoltaic devices. It is designed to provide high-performance isolation between the input and output terminals and is designed for use in applications operational at temperatures from -55° to 110°C.
