The MOC3032FR2VM is a variant of optoisolator that falls into the category of Triac, SCR Output, and has many practical applications. The optoisolator series provides an isolating barrier between applying a trigger signal and the load, which can reduce noise and protect the signal source from any potentially dangerous action by the load.
The MOC3020FR2VM optoisolator is designed to interface between digital electronics and an AC line operating at up to 250VAC. Its optoisolated triac output is triggered by the logic control of the associated equipment. This triggers a triac or SCR if the load is resistive or inductive.
The logic input of the device is optoisolated from the triac, SCR, and AC secondary circuits. This provides safety isolation from the AC primary circuit and also eliminates the need for expensive electronic components to provide input or output isolation. It also lets the load remain in its natural state, which reduces interference with the load’s operation.
The MOC3020FR2VM is capable of triggering triac and Load from a logic control of between 4V to 16V. When the voltage at the control input rises above 2V, optically isolates an SCR and a Triac and both are connected in parallel to the load. The device turns on the load by delaying the triggering signal by approximately 5 msec. This helps to prevent spurious triggering.
The device is a hybrid Silicon device consisting of an6-pin optotriac with an internal LED and a Triac or transistor connected in parallel with an SCR. The optotriac has an internal optoisolator, ensuring complete isolation between the control circuit and the Triac or SCR connected to the AC load.
The optotriac also features a sensitivity of 1.25mA to 2.5mA and an isolation voltage of 3000Vrms, making it suitable for industrial control applications. The operating temperature range of the device is from -40℃ to +100℃. The device has the UL approved rated voltage and current.
Apart from providing isolation between the load and control circuit, the optoisolator also helps reduce interference from other circuits. This is done by providing a linear transfer of high-voltage low-current output signal from the input voltage of the control circuit. The device is suitable for use in a wide range of applications where AC switching and protection are required. These include lighting control, industrial control, security systems, and HVAC systems.
The MOC3020FR2VM, like other optoisolators, allows a small electrical signal to control a relatively large AC load. It provides electrical isolation between the two sides, as its components are kept away from the switch that controls the load. In this way, it reduces interference from other circuits, providing a safe and reliable operation.
