Optoisolator, also known as optocoupler, is a device used to electrically isolate two sections of an electrical circuit. The device is comprised of an emitter for generating light and a detector for receiving and responding to the light. MOC8106300W is a widely used optoisolator with Photovoltaic Output and Transistor. It uses gallium arsenide infrared LED as an emitter and a silicon NPN photo-transistor as a receiver.The main purpose of MOC8106300W is to transmit digital signals from one circuit to another and provide isolation from signal noise and interface between AC/DC circuits. It is designed to provide the highest possible common mode transient immunity (CMTI) at industrial temperatures between -40℃ to +100℃. This device offers high temperature performance, excellent noise immunity, high sensitivity and a wide dynamic operating range. It is very reliable which makes it a good choice for applications requiring long service life expectancy.The MOC8106300W optoisolator works on the basic principle of optical isolation. It consists of a light-emitting diode and a photo-transistor connected in series with each other. When a current is applied to the diode, it emits a light that is received by the photo-transistor. This induces a current in the photo-transistor which activates the device. This current is isolated from the rest of the circuit and can be used to control the other parts of the circuit. The optoisolator provides isolation between different circuits, preventing any type of electrical interference.An example application of MOC8106300W optoisolator is to protect the output of a digital circuit from any electrical interference. The optoisolator\'s output is connected to the digital circuit and an external source is connected to the input. When the external source is triggered, the MOC8106300W optoisolator will transmit the signal to the digital circuit via its light emitting diode and the phototransistor which in turn will activate the digital circuit\'s output.The MOC8106300W is an extremely useful device that is used in many industrial applications.
