Working Principle

The MP2388GQEU-P uses synchronous-buck technology to step down a wide range of input voltages. The input voltage is transformed to a higher voltage at the PWM comparator and the high-side power switch is then turned on. This allows current to flow through the inductor and the diode. The magnetic field created by the current through inductor collapses, providing a back EMF that drives the current requiring the energy stored in the inductor to the output capacitor. The current through the inductor is therefore discontinued and the diode turns off and the low-side switch turns on. This allows the energy stored in the inductor to be quickly discharged to the load.

The upper power switch and the lower power switch form a bridge connection to convert capacitors, inductors and resistors into a voltage regulation system. The controller can use Pulse-width modulation (PWM) to control the on/off status of the upper and lower power switches according to the deviation between output voltage and a reference voltage to achieve voltage regulation.

In addition, the MP2388GQEU-P includes over-temperature protection, over-current protection and short-circuit protection. These protections are used to ensure that the device operates within the limits of the system\'s safe operating area.
